The Thomas and Friends Deluxe Over the Track Signal has been a good addition to my son's train toys.  I wouldn't say that it gets as much play time as the Thomas rescue hospital, but he does enjoy playing with it.  The nice thing is that if the signal noise starts driving you crazy there is a small black switch that will allow you to turn the noise off so only the lights work.  A younger child probably wouldn't figure out how to turn it back on for awhile, but an older child would have no problem finding the switch and turning it back on and/or off.
